Post-Adoption Month 3

Just mailed in today Kaeuna's 3rd month post-adoption paperwork!!! We are slowly but surely getting somewhere. Our social worker said that we should be able to finalize by the end of May. That means...no more paperwork and Kaeuna will be officially ours.

I received a call yesterday from a fellow coach who wants me to take his volleyball team to Cincinnati's, OH the weekend of Feb. 27 & 28. It is the 17-blue team and I am really excited. I really miss coaching and this will allow me to coach and I won't be gone for months. I am also taking another team in April for a one day tournament.

I am also teaching Junior Achievement at the boys' school for 4th grade. I have taught 1st grade for a couple years now and they needed someone for 4th grade, so I took the job (volunteered).

Dawes and Creigh are still playing Upward Basketball and doing a great job. They love going to practices and games and are really improving their game.

I dropped off some old toys today at the daycare where Dawes and Creigh both went for pre-school and I took Mr. Mahlan. He was really excited to see the school where he will go and he got to meet Miss Mindy his teacher. He actually stayed with her while I brought in the toys, which is huge if you don't know Mahlan, he doesn't like strangers. Anyway, I figure if I make a trip there every month for the next 6 months he'll be ready for pre-school.

Kaeuna is doing really well. Her language has really improved. She can say, Mama, Dada, thank you, bottle and up. She can sign, more, night-night, eat, and she points to other things that she wants. She knows where her belly, nose and hair are. She is crawling all over the place and definitely has a personality that we are learning more about. She fits very well with us :) She is standing here right now yelling at me to get off the computer. I better go.

Kaeuna's Godparents: Zack and Lindsay and Uncle Dicky
Our beautiful daughter
This is my Dad's old guitar that he gave to Dawes for Christmas. Dawes was really excited to get this.
Adam in celebration because it took him 5 hours to put the trampoline together. It was only him putting it up.
Dawes and Kaeuna sharing a lollipop together.
This is a table/lamp that Nonny gave the kids for Christmas. It plugs in and glows different colors. They boys love it in their room. It is a wonderful nightlight.
Mahlan got a top for Christmas that has a small train inside of it that also makes noise.
Kaeuna on her new little bike and walker.
The favorite Christmas stocking stuffer, the slinky.
Good morning!!!! Talk about bedhead. The video below is Mr. Mahlan playing an old trombone we have. He loves playing.

I am still here.

Sorry. I have been busy with 4 children. I am sitting here by the fire (thanks, Adam) and decided to update everyone on our progress. I am going to be real honest. It was very hard. The first month, every kid I have had, the first month is always...HARD!!! Kaeuna has been home 2 months and we are still learning about each other, but it keeps getting easier and that helps.

Dawes is home today sick. With our last two months being so busy and hard I have missed my other children very much. Dawes and I are cuddling together and we are going to go out together this week. That is my goal for this month...to spend a evening alone with each of my children. Even if it is just sitting at Wendy's and talking. That seems to be the hardest part about 4 younger children, trying to keep up with their needs. Dawes is 8 1/2 and such a wonderful, caring young man. I can't wait to see him grow up and see him succeed. He is getting good at basketball and such a competitor. He can't help it. His father played competitive soccer and I played competitive volleyball. He was born to play. Dawes is also very helpful around the house and with the little ones. Thank you very much Dawes! I love you.

Creigh is still the easiest kid! He is so carefree and mature for his age. He is also playing basketball and he has improved so much. Creigh is our stone for the family. He is always so sturdy and easy to be with. Creigh is also very funny. He is always hiding and trying to play tricks on everyone. Creigh will do excellent in life. His carefree attitude will make life so easy for him. Creigh, I love you and thank you for your help.

Mahlan for the last 2 months has been a monster (Bud, you know I love you). Just the past weekend he seems to be getting better. He also has been sick so that doesn't help. He wants to control Kaeuna with what she plays with and what she does. Some day we will laugh at how he acted towards her and they will be best friends (if it's the last thing I do they will like each other, LOL). He is always saying that Kaeuna can't come with us or Kaeuna can't eat that etc... so I explained to him that if Kaeuna can't do it then Mahlan can't do it. He always seems change his mind :) Mahlan is the kid that at home he drives me crazy, but when we go out in public he is an angel. Mr. Mahlan, I love you very much and life will get easier. I promise!!

Have a great day.

P.S. Dear Adam, Love you!!!
